While I was commenting a post, I have noticed that my avatar was so boring, so I decided to make it more interesting. Then I remembered a close friend of mine having this cool look-alike cartoon avatar that he has. He told me once about that website of this cool avatar generator but I could not recall what was it. So I decided to look for it in Google.

Changing from keyword to another, I still could not find that website I was looking. However, I came across to this interesting website, BeFunky. Though it was not what I really wanted, I was curious enough to try the website because it claims to make photos funky.

There are a lot of options you can find in their user-friendly application and I was amazed that they have developed such wonderful application in Flash. However, I was not impressed by the result, though it had made a wonderful result to my photo, since I could make similar result if I'll be using Gimp or Photoshop.

Citi pays $18M for questioned credit card practice

Citigroup Inc. will pay nearly $18 million in refunds and settlement charges for taking $14 million from customers' credit card accounts, California's attorney general said Tuesday.

Citigroup will make refunds to the 53,000 customers affected, and pay $3.5 million in damages and civil penalties to the state of California, which had been investigating the questionable practices for three years, the attorney general said.

The bank will also pay 10 percent interest to California customers, who accounted for $1.6 million of the money "swept" out of accounts and into a Citi fund between 1992 and 2003.

This afternoon, something reflective event had come into my mind. Something that I need to inscribed.
As i rode the jeepney heading home, i saw this man who really looked so piteous. He was just looking straight at one side of the jeep. He's maybe 30 or 40 years old. He was tan in complexion. And what made me pity about was that his body is like bending forward. I could see it through his shirt. I felt like I'm grateful for not being like that, but I realized he's more grateful than I. He must have accept himself of what he is and what he was, and then his life must be satisfying already with what he have, and what is now. but what about me?, what about us? Have we accepted ourselves?
I slightly bent my head just enough to see other's shoes, and did i find? I saw this dirty white shoe of this guy's right foot before me. There was something written there, i could'nt understand the other words, except the word nirvana. I then thought, what is nirvana again? I know the meaning, but i couldn't recall. Then I searched for its meaning. It says, nirvana is an ideal condition of rest, harmony, stability, or joy. In Buddhism, it is the perfect or beatific state, characterized by the extinction of desires and passions, and the transcending of the separate existence of the self.
Then what could this word do with me?
I then turn my face to the pitiable man. Did he achieve harmony, stability, or joy? I think he did, and he still is, in fact he smiled a very happy smile. His simplicity and meekness showed that he was in harmony, and in joy because he needed not to stay for hours just to fix hair, like others are doing.He does'nt have to bother himself what to wear, or how to wear, not like people nowadays who are never satisfied of what they get, or what they look like. they spend too much time in luxurious things, things that they need not, but others do. To achieve this infinite bliss, we just need to be satisfied. All we to do is to enjoy what we get.

What have i learned today?

I got late this morning because i expected no traffic would jam my way, but oh! there was. Plus I left home not that early, and not that late, as a result, I was damn late. Well anyway, i can take it as an opportunity, or maybe a luck, because when i came in our classroom, F300, they were already rearranging seats, so that means i will sit at the back, alone. Then, i thought everything would be fixed, but our teacher asked if we have some complains and et cetera, etc. i raised my hand, cleared my voice, ehem, then said, "excuse me ma'am, but it's really hot here."(it's not actually like that though, like what i said, of course i said it in a vernacular manner.) So, i moved my chair a little closer behind the walls, and that made my position at the center, and a position beside a not-so-close friend. She smiled at me, I smiled at her, then that was it. Again, I transferred at the back of my friend-like or FC friend. She giggled and i smiled back. The class went to its normal flow, then dismissed. I said Bye to this FC friend, she "byed" too.
You know what, i just love these people who forced me to smile at them because they made me feel that I'm not a stranger anymore, but i am their classmate, and more than that their friend. I never felt so glad within these days in my new school, every time i enter rooms for my class, i felt like i was someone, someone not me. But just this morning, i am who i am. it occurred to me how sad is it to be in crowd but still alone.

Millions of people have gotten "urgent" emails asking them to take immediate action to prevent some impending disaster. "Our bank has a new security system. Update your information now or you won't be able to access your account," or "We couldn't verify your information; click here to update your account." Sometimes the email claims that something awful will happen to the sender (or a third party), as in "The sum of $30,000,000 is going to go to the Government unless you help me transfer it to your bank account."

People who click on the links in these emails may see a web page that looks like a legitimate site they've visited before. Because the page looks familiar, these people enter their username, password, or other private information on the site. What they've actually done is given an unknown third party all the information needed to hijack their account, steal their money, or open up new lines of credit in their name. They just fell for a phishing attack.

The concept behind such an attack is pretty simple: Someone masquerades as someone else in an effort to fool you into sharing personal or other sensitive information with them. Phishers can masquerade as just about anyone, including banks, email and application providers, online merchants, online payment services, and even governments. And while some of these attacks are crude and easy to spot, many of them are sophisticated and well constructed. That fake email from "your bank" can look very real; the bogus "login page" you're redirected to can seem completely legitimate.

The good news is there are things you can do to steer clear of phishing attacks:

Be careful about responding to emails that ask you for sensitive information. You should be wary of clicking on links in emails or responding to emails that are asking for things like account numbers, user names and passwords, or other personal information such as social security numbers. Most legitimate businesses will never ask for this information via email. Google doesn't.

Go to the site yourself, rather than clicking on links in suspicious emails. If you receive a communication asking for sensitive information but think it could be legitimate, open a new browser window and go to the organization's website as you normally would (for instance, by using a bookmark or by typing out the address of the organization's website). This will improve the chances that you're dealing with the organization's website rather than with a phisher's website, and if there's actually something you need to do, there will usually be a notification on the site. Also, if you're not sure about a request you've received, don't be afraid to contact the organization directly to ask. It takes just a few minutes to go to the organization's website, find an email address or phone number for customer support, and reach out to confirm whether the request is legitimate.

If you're on a site that's asking you to enter sensitive information, check for signs of anything suspicious. If you're on a site that's asking for sensitive information -- no matter how you got there -- check for the signs that it's really the official website for the organization. After the terrible storm.. A shining light came..

When my father got his job in the Government Sector, our life is totally in place and I can say that we are truly endowed with God’s faithful blessings. It’s not that we have everything we need but at least we can buy anything we demand and we want from our parents. At that time, it’s only me and my sister Juvy who’s experiencing those wonders of the world my parents brought us. Not until I got 5 siblings more and my father has to really work very hard to bring food in our table. He even applied for a loan because his salary at that time is not enough to send us 7 in school. Since we were experiencing those financial constraints, my mother has to sacrifice also her precious belongings, her jewelries and more and was compelled to look for Watch Buyers, Diamond buyers and Jewelry buyers to sell her accessories. The most painful thing was we sold our house and lot and transferred to a smaller abode. Because of this downfall, my mother decided to put up a business like a buy and sell of agri-products in front of our house to help my father raise everything we mislaid. We really prayed hard to God and seek his presence to help us on combating the entire crises our family was experiencing.

After several years, the storm subsided. My mom’s business prospered and became lucrative. Good news, my father has been promoted and escalated to a higher position and was able to pay-off all his debts, liabilities and all of his loans. Has even bought a parcel of land and planted root crops and some fruits in their so that in due time, he can reap what he sow and support our family needs. Juvy and I have also finished our Degrees in college and my other siblings continued to their studies as well. Right now, Juvy and I still undergoing our review for CPA board and hopefully we both could pass it for us to continue our profession. Well I guess, what we experienced before connotes that God had only tested us on fire on how deep our faith, love, and trust in him in order for our family to reach this verge of happiness. He just want to gauge how strong we are as stewards on his creations if we can or cannot stand out from it. My pagerank is now zero. It was last week when my gf told me that I had a pr zero already and as I check it, it had always appeared to be zero since then. But my pr image in my blog remained on 3 so I thought google might be down when I checked it.

But when I check my blog today, the image is already updated and it is really true that my pr has gone. I don't know what are reason that brought down my pagerank to zero. Most bloggers had said that if your blog is already PPP, your pr will go down but this blog is not yet on PPP.

Just recently my dad decided to finally furnish our home since he acquired his Christmas Bonus from his work. Last Saturday, February 16, 2008, the KOTAS (Knights of the Altar) celebrated its annual convention at St. Francis Xavier College Seminary. This is the time we took a break in our usual activities in the church and have fun together with the altar boys in Davao.

The only sport I know that was played during the day was basketball only. Perhaps, it was because they took a lot of their time through sharing during the day.

During lunch, we had a party, a pansit party, since the viands are all pansit. We shared the pansit we bought to the group.

After lunch, there was a program in the gym. We went to our assign place in the gym where we sat down. There were group presentations, most are dancing, and awarding afterwards where we won the most highest attendance .

After the day's activities we went home safe and sound.
